Coastal Snippets December 2025

If we were to assign November 2025 a human moniker it could be Usain Bolt. November seems to have passed at record speed this year. It was quite a jolt to turn my calendar this morning and be greeted with Christmas artwork. Yes, there are multitudes of Christmas decorations around but, as they start to appear in September, I tend to be a bit impervious to them. The calendar however, is a little harder to ignore and dismiss.
Another option for a new name for November 2025 could be Niagara Falls as they are both cold and very wet. According to our fancy new $96 million BOM website, this spring has comparably been exceptionally cold and wet. I have even seen reports of snowfall today, despite the fact that it is supposed to be summer. While the large number of days with rainfall have been wonderful for our gardens, it has definitely hampered the Coastal team and their working opportunities. On the days when the weather was not so atrocious that gardening work was viable, we have been in full ‘heads down, bums up’ mode to have your properties ready for Christmas and the summer season. We will be continuing to do so through December right up until Christmas.
As we have done in previous years, we are going to ask you to let us know if you will be having Christmas celebrations at your place this year. This helps us to arrange our schedules accordingly and ensure that if you are on hosting duty that your properties are function ready. Conversely, if you are lucky enough to not have that responsibility and will be guests at another location, advising us of this also helps our scheduling options, as you can be prioritised early December and on our return in the New Year.
Which leads to our Christmas closure dates. We will be working right up to Christmas this year, with our last working day being December 24th. We will then be taking a very well earned break and enjoying time with our families until January 6th when we will be back on deck, ready to take on 2026.
December to do list:
· Stop those rain dances / rain spells / rain wishes - just until Christmas
· Start sunshine dances / sunshine spells / sunshine wishes
· Enjoy December’s festive spirit
· Pace yourself - December is a long month. Take time for rest and self care
