Coastal snippets August 2026

The cold that greets us when we poke our noses out the front door leaves us in no doubt that we are still in the depths of winter.  However, we are now in August and so there is less than a month left before the new season begins.  Officially spring starts on September 1st, and for our beautiful peninsula gardens the spring action really starts mid September.  This means that we only have about 6 weeks to complete our winter garden tasks.

Just like the mighty Demons, who started the season slowly and are now full steam into the finals, our garden maintenance needs to have a final push and a strong finish to claim another Grand final victory, I mean, be prepared for their Spring spectacular.

With these last weeks of winter, we need to focus on completing the winter tasks of keeping control of weeds, pruning and mulching in preparation for spring growth.

 August to do list:

  • Finish winter pruning

  • Continue weed eradication

  • Undertake pre-spring mulching

  • Cheer on the mighty Dees
